Common Q&A

1. Natural?

FDA has not developed a definition for use of the term natural or its derivatives. Hi-FiBar is made with all natural ingredients and does not contain any added color, flavors, preservative, or other artificial substances. As close to their natural state as possible.

2. Gluten free?

We use all gluten free material. We work with Bob’s red mill to get their gluten free oat, which is manufactured in a dedicated gluten free facility.  However, we haven’t applied for the gluten free certificate largely due to the high cost.

3. What’s added sugar?

Short answer: Sugar added into food system, sugar, fructose, honey, agave, grape juice concentrate, beet sugar crystal, etc.

Long answer: FDA definition of added sugars includes sugars that are either added during the processing of foods, or are packaged as such, and include sugars (free, mono- and disaccharides), sugars from syrups and honey, and sugars from concentrated fruit or vegetable juices that are in excess of what would be expected from the same volume of 100 percent fruit or vegetable juice of the same type.

4. Hi-FiBar has no added sugar?

No added sugar. Instead of using honey, agave, brown rice syrup, date paste or glucose syrup, which are mostly or entirely sugar, Hi-FiBar uses a blend of fiber, which becomes sticky after being heated up in certain way. That’s how we bind all of the nuts and seeds together.

5. How is it sweetened? What's monk fruit juice?

Hi-FiBar is sweetened with monk fruit juice, which is zero calorie per serving and does not affect blood sugar level or cause tooth decay. It is from a melon like fruit grown mostly in southeast Asian. Perfect for people with diabetes and anyone watching sugar intake. GRAS approval by FDA.

6. Vegan?

Yes.

7. Add vitamins?

No. Only contains the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients from the ingredients we use, from mother nature.

8. High fat?

Hi-Fibar is made with natural ingredients with low glycemic ingredients. Nuts and seeds naturally have low glycemic index and carb, as a result they are high in protein and fat. However, the fat in nuts are the “good fats” beneficial to your brain and heart.

9. High fiber?

Yes, One Hi-FiBar provides more than 20% of your daily recommended intake of fiber and qualifies FDA claim of “excellent source” of fiber.

Fiber can slow down digestion, prolong stomach emptying time (keep you full for longer) so that the natural sugar in nuts and seeds is released and absorbed more slowly. Helps regulates blood sugar and has proven effects on lower cholesterol level and reducing the risk of heart disease and diabetes.
