Not all sugar are created equal!

Sugar from different sources might have the same chemical structure but that doesn’t mean your body will react to them the same way.

It matters a lot on who the sugar is partnered with. 

Lactose in MILK comes with protein and Calcium, Vitamin D, Vitamin A and Vitamin B.

Protein makes up part of your body (muscles) and is important to fight diseases and maintain healthy hair and nails. Milk is a good source of protein as each glass contains almost 8 grams of it.

Calcium and Vitamin D is vital for the bone health. Vitamin B helps you be energetic while Vitamin A is strengthen your immune system.

Fructose in APPLE is partnered with fiber, vitamin C and other nutrients.

Fiber is a kind of prebiotic that feeds the good bacteria in your gut and improve your digestive health. (Does not work if you drink apple juice.)

The various vitamins and antioxidants can help improve your health as well. 


On the other hand, sugar in soft drinks comes with (mostly artificial) flavor, color and/or caffeine. They are mostly "empty calories" which means they provide only calorie, no other important nutrients. Even with the same amount of sugar, the package deal you get is very different. Eliminate or limit sugary drink and syrupy cereal and eat more fruits and vegetable is the best way to lower your added sugar and up your fiber intake.
